TYB Gives Back
We teach our students integrity, grit, dedication, & self advocacy skills through community service projects. We uplift our local community by participating in ways to give back, including collecting can goods for local food drives, donations for clothing drives, feeding the homeless, and creating cards of encouragement for the elderly.

ABOVE & BEYOND CLASSROOM CURRICULUM
We recognize that lack of early exposure to STEAM subjects prevents children from pursuing careers in highly sought-after professions. 5% of jobs for kids today don’t exist yet, which is why it’s important for them to explore the fields of STEM, as those occupations are growing at a rate of 17 percent.
- Minority racial and ethnic groups are underrepresented in STEM career fields (9% African American, 7% Latino, and .3% American Indian or Alaska Native)
- While people of color are underrepresented in STEM related fields, women of color are even more so — only 1 out of 10 employed scientists + engineers are Black or Latina women
- 12.2% of board members in the STEM industry are female (that’s roughly 1/10!)
As a result, active participation in STEAM education will increase interest / curiosity, develop abilities to take thoughtful risks, engage in experimental learning, persist in problem solving, embrace collaboration, work through the creative process, and adopt the growth mindset!
